More brilliant news for the OPA! Welcome on board, OASPA…
We’re thrilled and honored to announce the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association as promotional sponsors of 2021’s Open Publishing Awards. OASPA is lending its renowned stature and considerable global influence to help our light shine further on the people, projects and organizations working to advance open in publishing. It’s a great boost for the awards and a generous commitment from OASPA that will encourage more communities from around the world to come together and join the celebrations. The sheer breadth and eclecticism of nominations for the first OPA in 2019 blew us away. This year is already shaping up to be even better!
OASPA is a not-for-profit membership association that’s been progressing the interests of open access in publishing since 2008. Today, it’s home to a thriving community of over 160 members representing a rich diversity of organizations, disciplines, languages, books and journals from all over the world. We’d like to offer a massive thank you to Claire Redhead, Executive Director of OASPA, who made this exciting promotional partnership happen.
“I am really delighted to have OASPA sponsoring the Open Publishing Awards. Openness, transparency, collaboration and innovation are at the heart of OASPA’s work and these awards create a focus for us all to celebrate the fantastic work out there that is enabled because these values are being put into practice.
“It’s very easy for the real-life importance and benefits of open research to get lost in the complexity of discussions about ‘which way, how and who’s going to pay.’ I’m looking forward to seeing lots of shining examples of open in action and I’ll be encouraging everyone in the OASPA community to get busy nominating all those great projects they know about!”
Coko Founder Adam Hyde says:
“The Coko community has enormous respect for OASPA. It has done incredible work over the years to push open access from the fringes to becoming an established part of the scientific, technical and scholarly publishing landscape.
“Its mission to represent the very best in open access publishing perfectly matches our vision for the Open Publishing Awards. OASPA has a genuinely international reach, and we’re really excited to see the impact this might have on the diversity of nominations for the OPAs.”
Nominations for the Open Publishing Awards are open, and the Coko community is readying the important dates for your diaries right now.
