Hindawi’s new manuscript submission and peer review system is an excellent example of how quickly solutions can be built using community-driven Open Source development. Hindawi is launching their first journal within a year of partnering with Coko. Hindawi have created their own iteration of Coko’s xPub journal platform, which is built out of Coko’s highly flexible PubSweet framework, which is essentially a platform toolkit.
Coko’s approach of community-led Open Source software development combined with the Coko modular and reusable architecture is a remarkably efficient way of developing publishing platforms. Coko has developed the modular ecosystem of components that can be assembled to create different platforms. Coko also acts as a community facilitator, bringing together and surfacing the expertise of participating individuals and organizations to ensure that each partner achieves their own platform goals while also building out common infrastructure that benefits everyone.
